It gives me immense pleasure in sharing a few words with the readers regarding PHYTOMORPHOLOGY: An International Journal of Plant Sciences which has now entered in its 62nd year of publication under the aegis of International Society of Plant Morphologists (ISPM), Delhi, India. This Journal, has been providing a unique platform to the plant scientists to share their valuable research contributions from diverse fields of botany at National and International fora since its inception in the year 1950 by our most reverend founder editor Late Professor P. Maheshwari FRS. Another significant feature of this Journal is its uniqueness in keeping pace with the emerging areas of research from conventional to modern disciplines including molecular biology, nanotechnology and bioinformatics. The contributions made by the former esteemed editors in this regards are highly applauded who have leveled their best in taking the Journal to the Helm.

It will be heartening to know that the Journal is being indexed in SCOPUS the important International database of Elsevier. It is also indexed in the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS ), Delhi, data base and its current rating for the year 2011-12 is 4.3, which may go up in the coming years. ISPM is also creating the website of Pytomorphology where contents and abstracts of the papers published during the last few years shall be available. I convey my acknowledgements to my predecessor Professor K. S. Rao who has whole heartedly served this Journal for more than three years. The attempts initiated by him to make the Journal online prior publication are still in the process.

My deep sense of gratitude goes to Professor C.P. Malik, the immediate past President, Professor I. Usha Rao, Secretary-Treasurer and Professor Ved Pal Singh, President of the ISPM and members of Executive, who have considered and entrusted this pious and challenging job to me. The incessant help and timely co-operation provided by the expert reviewers for critically evaluating the manuscripts are gratefully acknowledged. I am sure that the Journal is bound to reach to newer heights, after receiving valuable research contributions from the authors and full impetus from the internationally acclaimed members of Editorial Board. Your valuable comments and suggestions in this regards are always most welcome. With my heartiest best wishes and warm regards:

Professor Veena Agrawal
